The Process of Selling in an Online Auction
Our Selling Process
Every auction begins with a personal consultation. One of our experienced team members will meet with you to discuss your goals, evaluate your property or assets, and recommend the selling strategy that best fits your needs. Whether you’re selling real estate, an entire estate, a business, or a specialized collection, we’ll develop a customized plan and timeline designed to maximize your results.
Step 1 – Consultation & Evaluation
We’ll visit your property to assess the assets, answer your questions, and determine whether an on-site auction, warehouse auction, real estate auction, traditional listing, or a combination of services is the best solution.
Step 2 – Cataloging & Photography
Our team professionally inventories, photographs, and catalogs each item to create an attractive online auction. Depending on the size of the project, this process may take anywhere from several days to several weeks.
Step 3 – Marketing Your Auction
Once everything has been cataloged, we launch a comprehensive marketing campaign using professional photography, email marketing, social media, online advertising, our extensive bidder database, and other targeted marketing strategies designed to reach both local and nationwide buyers.
Step 4 – Auction & Preview
Most personal property auctions are conducted online over a three to four-week bidding period. During that time, buyers have the opportunity to preview items at scheduled inspection times. Real estate auctions may also include open houses and property tours prior to auction day.
Step 5 – Auction Closing
Lots close individually using a staggered closing sequence. Our auctions feature a soft close, meaning that if a bid is placed during the final moments of a lot, bidding automatically extends to allow all interested buyers a fair opportunity to continue bidding.
Step 6 – Pickup & Settlement
After the auction concludes, our experienced staff coordinates buyer pickup, assists with loading purchases, and maintains a safe and organized pickup process. Eligible items can also be shipped through our in-house shipping department.
Once the auction has been completed and all payments have been collected, you’ll receive a detailed settlement statement along with your proceeds in accordance with the auction agreement.
